Abstract:
The POD is intrduced to simulate rugged topography in hydrocarbon exploration and the GPS surveying.The main idea of POD is to extract a set of normal orthogonal basis functions from a large number of experimental data and apply them to fit rugged topography. The model tests show that the POD method is efficient and feasible. The POD method may be extensively used in data compression, image processing, signal analysis and optimal control of fluids.
