Abstract:
A method for the spectrophotometric determination of the concentration of sodium dodecyl sulfonate is proposed based on the fact that crystal violet and anionic surfactants forms the color ion-associates in aqueous solution of pH7.00. There is a linear re- lationship between the absorbance and sodium dodecyl sulfonate concentration in the range of 0~ 2.0mg/ L for sodium dodecyl sul- fonate with recovery rate of 96%~ 103%,and RSD< 3.7%. The method is applied to the determination of anionic surfactants in river water, pond water and wasts water with satisfactory results.
