Abstract:
By means of triaxial compression test, the characteristics of deformation and failure of the natural loess which is sampled from the different depth of slope and has different confining pressure and moisture content are researched, and the reasons are analyzed according to the microstructure of loess samples. According to the above results, the process of deformation and failure of the loess slope under load condition are explained. The test results show that the natural loess which is sampled from the different depth of slope and has different confining pressure and moisture content have the different characteristics of stress-stain curves and the shear strength. The special conditions of engineering geology of loess slope result in the combination of moisture content and confining pressure that is adverse to maintain the strength of loess, this can result in the failure of loess and loess slope.
