Abstract:
There have been a series of different levels of biological and environmental changes around the world in Triassic-Jurassic boundary, such as the increasing temperature, the climate changing from arid to humidity, the rapid regression to transgression, and the large scale of biological extinctions, etc. The study on global geological profiles through relevant geological and geochemical methods were carried out. It is considered that large amounts of CO2 and other volcanic gases, generated by intense volcanic activity of the central Atlantic magmatic province (CAMP), are the most likely causes of biological extinctions and environmental changes. Meantime, the eruption of huge amounts of light carbon disturbs the global carbon cycle, and causes the negative deviation with different amplitude and times in carbon isotope values during Triassic-Jurassic. Currently, the study on Triassic-Jurassic boundary was mainly based on biostratigraphy (e.g. the division of the ammonite and palynology fossil zone), combined with geochemistry (e.g. carbon isotopes and other elemental distribution), then the data were synthesized to establish geological numerical simulation. Hitherto, the domestic study primarily concentrated on the palynology whereas short of the geochemical data. The abroad Triassic-Jurassic boundary, especially relevant methods, was summarized to provide a reference for the domestic research.
